Germany WW2 Elite Diamant K98 bayonet, original 1940 WKC metal scabbard, leather frog included. Scarce early war type in great overall condition, considering the age.
Original WW2 era German bayonet for “Karabiner 98K” Mauser bolt-action rifle. Manufactured in 1939 by the well-known German bicycle manufacturer Elite Diamant AG – marked with number 39 on the spine at the base of the blade. This is one of the scarce high-quality pre-war production specimens. Before the war, Elite Diamant was the manufacturer of quality home-use and racing bicycles. They had always made an excellent quality product, and it definitely shows in the overall quality of this bayonet.
The bayonet is used but it is in better-than-average condition for the pre-war manufacture type. A number of contact marks on the handle and the blade spine are noted for accuracy. Ricasso is sharply stamped ELITE DIAMANT on one side and serial number 5541h on the other. The bayonet is about 15-1/8” / 38.4 cm overall; the blade is about 9-3/4″ / 24.8 cm long. The blade has been re-sharpened; it has retained about 80% of its original bluing. Original black Bakelite grips and blued pins are in excellent condition with no scratches or cracks/chips on the Bakelite. The bayonet’s release button is in perfect working order. The Waffenamt stamps on the bayonet’s release button and the pommel are WaA218; scabbard’s tip is stamp is WaA25.
The bayonet comes with original deeply blued steel scabbard stamped 1817 / W.K.C. / 1940 on the throat. The back side has a few small dents; no surface rust or pitting. Original leather frog is in very good overall condition with intact keeper; the leather is soft and supple. The manufacturer’s stamp is worn-out. Almost 90 years later, this original Germany WW2 Elite Diamant K98 bayonet and its original scabbard are in 100% serviceable condition still. Don’t miss your chance to add this scarce Germany WW2 Elite Diamant K98 bayonet to your collection!
