Description
Vietnam War BOC M7 bayonet -1969 issue by Bauer Ord Company (BOC), M8A1 PWH composition scabbard. Rare unused in original DOD packaging – excellent overall condition, considering the age.
Original Vietnam War era M7 bayonet manufactured circa 1969 by Bauer Ord Company (BOC). The M7 bayonet was first issued in 1964; it was originally designed for the M16 rifle but it will fit several later-produced US combat rifles, including the current M4 carbine.
This specimen is in rare unused / unissued condition with original finish and factory edge; the bayonet and scabbard are still in their original factory packaging, complete with DOD stamps and inventory numbers. I have five (5) three (3) unused M7 bayonets left – all are in original unopened factory packaging. I had to open one to take some photos for the listing. The bayonet was sealed in clear Vanpak Products Inc. watertight poly bag dated October 1969. Presumably, the rest of the bayonets were also made by BOC in 1969 as each box is labeled exactly the same. This Vietnam War BOC M7 bayonet is about 11-3/4″ / 29.8 cm overall; parkerized blade is about 6-5/8″ / 16.8 cm long. Factory original edge is very sharp; the tip is intact. Ricasso is unmarked as intended; muzzle ring/guard is stamped US M7 on one side, BOC on the other. Black plastic handle grips are tight and in perfect condition; bayonet release mechanism is excellent and 100% functional; all handle parts are solid with no play.
Original M8A1 composition scabbard was made by Pennsylvania Working Home for the Blind (PWH stamp on the throat) in the late 1960th. The scabbard is unused as well; unpainted “gun-gray” steel throat is stamped USM8A1 / PWH on the front side. Web hanger is excellent with some minor oxidation around brass snaps and rivets (cleanable). Original OD-green nylon leg tie-down is included as well.
This rare unused Vietnam War BOC M7 bayonet and PWH M8A1 composition scabbard are in excellent overall condition and 100% serviceable still. Not cleaned or tampered with in any way, 100% original “as is” condition; these are the actual photos. I have a few more Vietnam War fighting knives and bayonets, as well as several scarce WW1 and WW2 American and European fighting daggers, bayonets and trench knives available for sale – please take a look in our Militaria section.
