Vietnam War BOC M7 bayonet made by Bauer Ord Company (BOC), original VIZ Manufacturing M8A1 composition scabbard; great overall condition. FREE EXPEDITED SHIPPING WITHIN THE U.S. FOR THIS ITEM.
Original Vietnam War era M7 bayonet manufactured by Bauer Ord Company (BOC). The M7 was first issued in 1964; it was originally designed for the M16 rifle but it will fit several later-produced US combat rifles, including the current M4 carbine.
This specimen is only slightly used; it is in great overall condition. This bayonet is about 11-5/8″ / 29.5 cm overall; parkerized blade is about 6-1/2″ / 16.5 cm long. The edge is razor-sharp; the very end of the tip is slightly bent. Ricasso is unmarked as intended; muzzle ring/guard is stamped US M7 on one side, BOC on the other. Black plastic handle grips are in perfect condition with no damage; all handle parts are tight with no play. The bayonet release mechanism is excellent and 100% functional.
Original M8A1 composition scabbard was made by VIZ Manufacturing Co. (VIZ stamp on the throat) circa 1962-1963. VIZ Manufacturing was the earliest maker of M8A1 scabbard during the Vietnam War; their DOD contract was short-lived. The scabbard is in very good shape but the left rib has a crack near the tip. The “gun-gray” steel throat is stamped USM8A1 / VIZ on the front side. The webbing is excellent with no rust or typical oxidation around brass snaps and rivets.
This original Vietnam War BOC M7 bayonet and its VIZ M8A1 composition scabbard are in excellent overall condition and 100% serviceable still. Not cleaned or tampered with in any way, 100% original “as is” condition.
