Rhodesian FAL Type C bayonet, original composition scabbard. Rare circa 1964–1979 Rhodesian Bush War era type in great overall condition. FREE SHIPPING WITHIN THE U.S. FOR THIS ITEM.
This is a rare original FN FAL Type C bayonet used in the Rhodesian Bush War of 1964–1979. In the 1960s the Rhodesian Army was equipped with the British L1A1 FAL assault rifles. When Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) declared its independence from Britain in 1965, an arms embargo stopped further arms shipments from the UK. During the embargo years South Africa supplied the Rhodesian Army with the R1 FAL variant, which used the Type C bayonet. These Type C bayonets were equipped with the South African manufacture composite scabbards. All Rhodesian Army issued bayonets bear electro penciled serial numbers with “RA” serial prefix on the socket base. This specimen’s serial looks like RA 0409; the number is a bit hard to read as the steel is a bit pitted from exposure to the elements. You may want to use a magnifying glass to read the serial.
This specimen is only slightly used; not cleaned with original bluing – this Rhodesian FAL Type C bayonet is in great overall condition for the type. This bayonet is about 11-1/4″ / 28.5 cm overall; the spike blade is about 6-5/8″ / 17 cm long. Edges are very sharp still; the tip is intact. The bayonet release mechanism is excellent and 100% functional. Original nylon body / steel throat insert scabbard is in great condition with no major damage. These scabbards were manufactured in South Africa in the 1960s.
This original Rhodesian Bush War era Rhodesian FAL Type C bayonet is in excellent overall condition and 100% serviceable still. Not cleaned or tampered with in any way, 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos; Garand clips are not included with the set 😉 I have a few more Vietnam War fighting knives and bayonets, as well as several scarce WW1 and WW2 American and European fighting daggers, bayonets and trench knives available for sale – please take a look in our Militaria section.
