Spanish-American War M1892 Krag bayonet dated 1898; all original parts are intact; this specimen is in great overall condition, considering the age.
Original Spanish-American War era M1892 “Krag” bayonet that was issued for the short-served US M1892 Krag-Jörgensen rifle. This bayonet was made by Springfield Arsenal in 1898. It is only slightly used; all parts are original and intact; this bayonet is in great overall condition for the type. The blade is in great shape; original factory edge has not been re-sharpened; the tip is intact; some minor pitting near the tip and light surface rust on the handle is noted for accuracy (cleanable).
The pommel is perfect with no typical contact marks; bayonet release mechanism is excellent and 100% functional. Original walnut handle scales and pins; all handle parts are tight with no play. Ricasso is date-stamped 1898 on one side and US on the other. The bayonet is about 16-1/4″ / 41.3 cm overall; the blade is about 11-5/8″ / 29.5 cm long; it is in 100% serviceable condition even now. Original metal scabbard is in very good shape overall. Not cleaned; some light surface rust spots are noted for accuracy. The “swivel type” belt hook is intact but the connection is loose; it does not stay in place. Overall, this original US-issued Spanish-American War M1892 Krag bayonet is in excellent condition; it is 100% serviceable still. Not cleaned or tampered with in any way, 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos; spent brass is not included with the lot 😉
