Description

WW2 Ka-Bar USN MK2 fighting knife, early “heavy” pommel, blued blade, correct gray U.S.N. NORD composition scabbard. Great overall condition, considering the age.

Original WW2 era famous US Navy Mark 2 “Ka-Bar” fighting knife (the link is a courtesy of Wikipedia) manufactured by KA-BAR (Union Cutlery out of Olean, NY) in slightly used condition.  The overall condition for the set is great  – the scabbard looks unused; blued blade has about 95% of the original finish; no nicks on the edge, the tip is intact; the pommel is excellent with no contact marks.

This is an earlier MK2 specimen with the extra-thick “unpinned” hammer-like pommel and unmarked guard. The ricasso is stamped KA-BAR on one side, USN MK2 on the other. Leather washers handle with the extra-heavy round pommel and slightly curved guard; all parts are perfectly tight with no play. The knife is about 12-1/4″ / 31 cm overall; blued blade is about 7″ /17.9 cm. The edge has been lightly re-sharpened; the blade including the “false” upper edge, is RAZOR-sharp; the tip is intact.

Original “navy-gray” NORD composition scabbard was made by Victory Plastics division of Beckwith Manufacturing (B.M. Co.). The numbers on the back indicate the very first  delivery date to the Navy in November 1943. This specimen was part of the first batch of new composition-materials model that had replaced the early-war all-leather scabbards.  The scabbard looks unused and it is in 100% serviceable condition. Most of Mark 2 knives were used in the field as intended; this type is VERY rare in near-mint condition – a rare find and a great addition to any collection.

This attractive WW2 Ka-Bar USN MK2 fighting knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it is in 100% original “as is” condition; these are the actual photos.
