WW2 Ka-Bar USN MK2 fighting knife, guard-marked type. Original 1944 NORD composition scabbard signed by C.G. Coulter; scarce type in great condition, considering the age.
Original WW2 era famous US Navy Mark 2 “Ka-Bar” fighting knife (the link is a courtesy of Wikipedia) manufactured by Ka-Bar (Union Cutlery) in Olean, NY. Original GI-signed “navy-gray” NORD composition scabbard is included. The scabbard is C.G. Coulter / V2T. / “star and crescent” on the plastic part.
MK2 is the classic American fighting knife; this type was used in combat in all theaters of WW2 and in virtually every war thereafter. This Mark 2 is about 12″ / 30.5 cm overall; blued blade is about 6-7/8″ / 17.5 cm. Used, but in better than average condition for the type – no spine dings or edge nicks the blade or the pommel; a minor pitting spot on the blade is noted for accuracy. The blade has been re-sharpened; it is razor-sharp still; the tip is intact. Stacked leather washes and hammer-like round pommel handle is solid; all parts are tight.
Original Navy-gray NORD composition scabbard by Beckwith Manufacturing; production numbers on the back indicate July 1944 delivery to US Navy. Original “navy-gray” finish on plastic; no big dents or chips; no rust on the webbing; thin cracks on plastic at the tip. These are the actual photos. This original WW2 Ka-Bar USN MK2 fighting knife is in 100% serviceable condition still; with proper care it will last another 80 years 😉
