Description
Rare early Vietnam War era 6-inch blade model Jet Pilot Knife. This short-lived 6” blade/ undated hexagon pommel type was manufactured by Camillus Cutlery in Camillus, New York, for just a couple of years from 1958 to 1959. After that all makers produced Jet Pilot knives with 5-inch blades. These survival knives were issued to USAF pilots, but many were used by GIs on the ground as well – see a reference photo of one Vietnam War era SOF operator with the 6-inch blade Jet Pilot knife on his belt (the photo is for reference only and will not be included with the lot). The knife is about 10-1/2″ / 26.7 cm overall; the blade is about 6″ /15.2 cm; the edge looks factory original; it is very sharp still; the tip is intact. The saw teeth on the blade’s spine are unused and fully intact; some light surface rust on the blade and a few tiny edge bumps are noted for accuracy. Ricasso is sharply marked CAMILLUS / N.Y. on one side. Stacked leather washers handle with iron guard and hammer-like pommel. The guard has a tiny bit of a play; the rest of the handle is solid; all parts are tight. There is some rust-preventing Cosmoline grease still on the pommel and some leather washers; this knife probably has never been issued. Original scabbard did not survive, unfortunately.

This rare early Vietnam War Camillus Jet Pilot Knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it is in 100% original “as is” condition; these are the actual photos.
