Vintage Schrade USA 1776-1976 Bicentennial Bowie, Aurum Etchings blade, presentation case. Scarce – only 1776 made; UNUSED.
Scarce limited edition Gerber Schrade Cutlery American Bicentennial Bowie was produced for the National Rifle Association in 1976. Schrade made a total of 1776 serial-numbered Bicentennial Bowies with “plain” bronze fittings; these were numbered 1 to 1776. This specimen’s serial numbered 1305 on the bronze guard. Additionally, also in 1976, Shcrade made 200 pieces of the “premium version” of the Bicentennial Bowie with sculptured sterling silver fittings and a different wood option for the handle. The knife features a stainless steel blade with fantastic etchings on both sides; the blade was finished by the long-gone Aurum Etchings. Solid bronze guard and pommel with varnished redwood handle. This scarce Schrade USA 1776-1976 Bicentennial Bowie is about 11″ / 28 cm long; the blade is about 6-1/2″ / 16.5 cm long; all parts are tight with no play. Original factory edge; the blade is razor-sharp; the tip is intact. This specimen is in unused condition with a vintage American walnut presentation case included. The case is not original to the knife as it was made by Gerber for it’s “presidential” series knives; it is in excellent overall condition; no cracks or chips. This vintage Schrade USA 1776-1976 Bicentennial Bowie is hard-to-find this nice and complete; don’t miss your chance to add it to your collection!
