Description
Custom dagger walrus tusk Andhi Spaeth scrimshaw, original handmade leather sheath; 1970s-1980s. Rare one-of-a kind type in excellent unused condition.
Excellent quality one-of-a-kind handmade custom hunting dagger made circa 1970s-1980s. Deeply etched round “crowned griffin / initials HL” logo on ricasso, possibly made by Lloyd Hale. In the 1980s Hale worked with Owsley Brown Frazier, a prominent figure in the world of gun and arms collecting. Hale’s collaboration with Frazier resulted in the production of over 300 exquisite on-of-a-kind knives, daggers, fighters, and bowies. Almost all blade were 440C stainless, each blade and handle type was unique. This dagger features a double-edged stainless blade, beefy nickel-silver guard and a fancy polished walrus tusk handle scrimshawed with “wolves in the wild” scene by Andhi Spaeth. Andhi is known for his realistic wild life scrimshaw scenes; this is one of his best works, in my humble opinion. Most of his work is in private collections but some of his knives come up at auctions from time to time.
This superb-quality exotic hunting dagger is approximately 12-1/2” / 31.7 cm overall; the blade is about 7-1/2” / 19 cm long. Ricasso is etched on one side with the maker’s round logo / initials HL. The knife looks unused/ never carried. The blade is RAZOR sharp; the tip is intact. Handmade brown leather sheath looks unused as well. The leather is soft and supple; all original stitching and keeper are intact. This rare Custom dagger walrus tusk Andhi Spaeth scrimshaw handle masterpiece will be a welcome addition to any collection.
This sunique Custom dagger walrus tusk Andhi Spaeth scrimshaw handle knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it is in 100% original “as is” condition; these are the actual photos.
