Vintage EK COMMANDO KNIFE COMPANY Aussie Bowie WD10 model full-tang construction fighting knife; made in Effingham, IL, circa 1993-1999 (BlackJack Knives era). True to the original John Ek designs, this is a very simple yet very practical knife; it will get the job done.

This is a modern-day version of the famous WW2 era “Aussie” fighting knife manufactured in Australia during the war. The WW-2 era “real-deal” type is illustrated on pages 55-56 of the KNIVES OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY WORLD WAR II book by Michael W Silvey – a well-established expert an author of many books on the subject of US military edged weapons (see the book’s page scan attached). The original Aussie  Fighter” was designed and manufactured for the Australian military by Whittingslowe Engineering in Cheltenham, South Australia. See the scan of the original circa 1944 Whittingslowe Engineering ad attached (the scan is for reference only; the ad print is not included with the lot). This modern-day “Aussie Fighter” is about 10-3/4″ / 27.3 cm overall, the satin-polish blade is about 5-3/4″ / 14.6 cm. The blade is excellent; the original factory edge is razor-sharp (including the “false” upper edge); the tip is intact. Hardwood handle scales with 3 large brass rivets and a steel guard; wood grips are excellent with no chips or contact marks. The knife is in unused “as made” condition; it comes in the original retail box and with original brown leather scabbard. The scabbard is also unused; the leather is soft and supple; the keeper is intact.

This vintage Ek Commando Aussie Bowie WD10 fighting knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it’s in 100% original “as is” condition; these are the actual photos. I have a few more Australian and American WW2 era combat knives and bayonets, as well as several scarce WW1 and WW2 fighting daggers and trench knives from other countries available for sale – please take a look in our Militaria section.
