Description
WW2 Colonial USN survival knife – part of USAF/USN pilots’ survival kits. Huge 4-3/4″ blade, intact saw. Scarce original WW-II era issue in great overall condition, considering the age.
Extra-large WW2 era “Jumbo Jack” folder from the US Navy and Army Air Corps survival kits. This specimen was manufactured by Colonial Cutlery. These extra-large folders are hard to find in good condition these days, especially with the saw blade intact. This type is illustrated on page 188 of KNIVES OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY WORLD WAR II book by Michael W Silvey – a well-established expert and the author of a number of books on the subject of the US military edged weapons (see book’s page scan attached).
The knife is about 6″ / 15.3 cm closed; large heavy-duty clip point blade is about 4-3/4″ /12 cm; it locks well with no play. Black plastic handle scales are in great overall condition with no crack. The saw blade is intact and very sharp still – better than average condition for the type. This big boy is not your typical pocket knife a bit over 6″ long even when closed and weighs about 13 oz / 360 grams. This old-timer is still in great shape overall – it is in 100% serviceable condition still; with proper it will last you another 75 years 😉 This original WW2 Colonial USN survival knife was part of the diverse collection of militaria items that I’ve recently purchased spanning from WW1 to Vietnam War. This personal collection contains many interesting items, some are unique, but there is just too much work to list it all at the same time. Please check out my site periodically for new arrivals; I’ll be listing more items in the next few weeks.
This original WW-II era WW2 Colonial USN survival knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way; it’s in 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos. I have a few vintage Sheffield-made knives, as well as WW2 era British combat knives and bayonets, scarce American and German WW1 and WW2 fighting daggers and trench knives available for sale – please take a look in the store’s Militaria section.
