WW2 Geneva Forge MK1 fighting knife, original early-war leather scabbard included. Rare type in great overall condition, considering the age.
Early WW2 era US Navy issue of Mark I Fighting/Utility knife in original early-issue all-leather scabbard manufactured Geneva Forge Inc. This exact type is illustrated on pages 9 and 10 in KNIVES OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY WORLD WAR II book by Michael W. Silvey – a well-established expert an author of many books on the subject of US military edged weapons (see the pages’ photos attached). A relatively scarce early type with e very generous-size aluminum pommel/all-leather sheath. This early type is hard-to-find in good condition since most of the these early MK1 knives were used as intended; the majority got broken, lost, or fell apart from contact with the salt water.
This is a though-after early “large aluminum pommel” Geneva Forge MK1 production – later MK1s had war-expedient wood pommels as aluminum was needed for the war effort. The knife is about 9-3/4″ / 24.8 cm overall; the blade is about 5″ / 12.8 cm. Blade is lightly re-sharpened; it’s razor-sharp still; the tip is a bit rounded. Stacked leather washers & aluminum guard handle; all handle parts are tight with zero play. Ricasso is stamped MARK 1 / GENEVA / FORGE INC. on one side and U.S.N. on the other. Original leather scabbard is used, but it’s in better-than average condition for the type – all stitching/staples and the keeper are intact; the leather is soft and supple still. This early-issue Geneva Forge WW2 American MK1 Fighting Knife / Utility Knife with original leather scabbard will be a great addition to any collection. Don’t miss your chance!
This scarce WW2 Geneva Forge MK1 fighting knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it’s in 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos; spent brass is not included with the knife 😉 I have a few more vintage European knives, as well as WW2 era combat knives and bayonets, scarce WW1 and WW2 fighting daggers and trench knives from other countries available for sale – please take a look in our Militaria section.
