I Wilson Sheffield Indian trade skinning knife / fur trade knife in excellent condition, considering the age. FREE EXPEDITED SHIPPING WITHIN THE U.S. FOR THIS ITEM.

This is a very interesting Indian/fur trade skinner was made by I. Wilson, Sheffield in the late 1800s. John Wilson (trademarked as I. Wilson) was a prominent British cutlery manufacturer formed in 1750 in Sheffield, England. John Wilson company manufactured a large variety of rugged field knives which were popular in the Indian and fur trade in the Americas. A similar skinning knife type also made by I Wilson is illustrated on pages 54-55 of the fantastic INDIAN TRARE RELICS reference source (see the scan attached).

This antique skinner is about 10-3/8” / 26.5 cm overall; nicely curved skinning blade is about 5-3/4″ / 14.6 cm. Solid full-tang construction; hardwood handle scales on 5 iron pins. Original wood handle scales are in very good condition overall; no cracks or chips; the handle is tight with no play. Thin skinning blade has been re-sharpened, it is razor-sharp still; the tip is intact. Overall, this antique I Wilson Sheffield Indian trade skinning knife is in excellent condition, considering the age.
