Belgium WW1 Felix Delu signal pistol based on the German M1894 Hebel design; mechanically excellent, great overall condition, considering the age.
Original WW1 era Belgian large signal pistol manufactured by Felix Delu & Co. in Liege, Belgium. This Belgian model was based on original M1894 Hebel flare gun German design. This is one hell of a hand cannon: this signal pistil is about 15-1/2 inches / 39.5 cm long; the barrel is about 9 inches / 23 cm; it is about 3 pounds-3 oz / 1.558 kg.
This signal pistol has two serial numbers: SN 220 is stamped on the side plate below the chamber; SN 374 is stamped on the bottom of the handle frame. The frame was probably re-blued; the action is nice and crisp; this specimen is in very good overall condition. No dents on the barrel or the frame; the bore is mostly clean with only some minor surface rust. The spur and trigger assembly is excellent with no play; original lanyard ring and wood grips are intact; a couple of small corner chips on wood grips are noted for accuracy. All parts are tight with no play; this specimen is a used but mechanically excellent – rare as such. These are the actual photos; Cold War era 26.5mm aluminum casings pictured were used as photo props and will not be included with the lot. This type is never to be tried with “regular” or shotgun ammunition – these flare guns were designed only for shooting low-pressure flare cartridges only and are likely going to disintegrate if tried with modern ammo; that would illegal as well. This scarce Belgium WW1 Felix Delu signal pistol has not been cleaned or tempered with; scarce in such authentic condition. This original Belgium WW1 Felix Delu signal pistol will be a great addition to any collection.
This original Belgium WW1 Felix Delu signal pistol / flare gun is not a “firearm” under US law and needs no FFL to transfer or own; this WW-2 era flare gun is obsolete; its spare parts are no longer made.
