WW2 PAL MK1 Fighting Knife/utility knife with 5.25″ parkerized blade, original Navy-gray NORD composition scabbard included. Unused condition – VERY rare as such.

Original WW2 era US Navy Mark I fighting knife with original Navy-gray scabbard – manufactured during the war by PAL Cutlery Co. This Mark 1 is in rare mint unissued condition, complete with original Navy-gray MK1 composition scabbard. Parkerized 5-1/4″ blade retained 100% of its original parkerized finish; no contact marks on the edge or the spine, just the way it left PAL’s factory during the war. PAL Mark 1s are not particularly scarce, but this type is VERY  hard to find in unused condition as most of these handy knives were used as intended during the war. This type is illustrated on pages 9 and 10 in KNIVES OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY WORLD WAR II book by Michael W. Silvey – a well-established expert an author of many books on the subject of US military edged weapons (see the pages’ photos attached).

This Mark I has the stacked leather washers & colored fiber spacers handle with aluminum pommel and steel handguard. All handle parts are tight with no play; parkerized guard is excellent and rust-free.The knife is about 10-1/8″ / 25.7 cm overall; the blade is about 5-1/4″ / 13.3 cm long. The tip is intact; original edge is RAZOR-sharp. The blade’s ricasso is stamped RH-35 PAL MADE IN U.S.A. on one side and U.S.N. / MARK I on the other. Not the type to miss a good business opportunity, PAL Cutlery had purchased the cutlery division of Remington Arms in 1940. After PAL moved the old Remington equipment and knife stock to Holyoke, MA, they began manufacturing knives using the left-over stock parts with the Remington emblem (RH stands for Remington Hunter).

Original “navy-gray” composition scabbard is stamped U.S.N. MK 1 on the front of the steel throat; production numbers on the back indicate the early 1945 delivery date to the Navy.  The scabbard is also unused; it is in 100% serviceable condition. Most of Mark I knives were used in the field as intended; this type is VERY rare in near-mint, unused condition – a rare find and a great addition to any collection!

This attractive WW2 PAL MK1 Fighting Knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it is in 100% original “as is” condition; these are the actual photos. We have several scarce WW1 and WW2 fighting daggers and trench knives available for sale – please take a look in our Militaria section.
