Original WW2 era M3 Fighting Knife/Trench Knife – an unmarked blade type likely manufactured by Imperial Cutlery, as evident from the fancy bakelite spacers. Probably made during the conversion to the manufacture of the unmarked blades, when the old and the new handle and blade parts were inter-mixed. This M3 comes with original M8A1 composition scabbard in excellent condition with the leather leg tie still attached.
This M3 is about 11-3/4” / 30 cm overall; the blade is about 6-3/4″ / 17.2 cm. The blade has been lightly re-sharpened; it is very sharp still; the tip is intact; minor pitting on the blade is noted for accuracy. Stacked grooved leather washers and brown bakelite spacers handle; steel guard and hammer-like pommel; all leather washers are tight. The guard is unmarked; the pommel has a tiny bit of a play.
Original M8A1 composition scabbard by Beckwith Manufacturing Company is marked US M8A1 / B.M. CO. on the throat; the top plate underside is marked B 5/1 N. The scabbard is in excellent overall condition, considering the age – no cracks on the plastic, all parts are intact and rust-free; the keeper is nice and tight. Overall, WW2 era M3 Fighting Knife is in 100% serviceable condition still; don’t miss your chance to add it to your collection!
This original WW2 Utica M3 Trench Knife / M8A1 composition scabbard have not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, 100% original condition; these are the actual photos.
