Description

WW2 Desco USN MKV diving knife, original bronze scabbard included. Rare American Navy Mark V type in great condition – hard to find this nice.

Original US Navy issue Mark V dive knife manufactured by DESCO diving equipment company. The knife looks practically unused; the blade still has the original factory edge; the tip is intact. This actual type is illustrated on pages 244-245 of the KNIVES OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY WORLD WAR II book by Michael W Silvey – a well-established expert and the author of a number of books on the subject of the US military edged weapons (see the pages’ scans attached).

The knife is about 12-3/4″ / 32.4 cm overall; the blade is about 7″ / 17.8 cm long. Turned wood handle with brass screw-on guard and pommel. The handle is near-excellent – no chips, dings, or cracks; a few light contact marks on the pommel are noted for accuracy; the handle is solid; all parts are tight. Overall, the knife is minty; all parts are tight. Brass scabbard is in great shape but has a number of dings near the tip where it was probably banging on the dive bell during dives. The scabbard is sharply stamped DESCO on one side.  This WW2 Desco USN MKV diving knife is in excellent overall condition, considering the age; you will not be disappointed!

This rare WW2 Desco USN MKV diving knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, the set is in 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos; spent brass is not included with the knife 😉 I have a few more US and British navy knives and dirks, as well as WW2 era British combat knives and bayonets, scarce American and German WW1 and WW2 fighting daggers and trench knives available for sale – please take a look in the store’s Militaria section.
