Original Vietnam War era M4 bayonet for M1 carabine manufactured in 1971-1972 by Bren-Dan, Inc. of Stamford, CT. These were the last M4s produced for the US government. Bren-Dan was awarded contract DAAF01-71-C-0851 in 1971; there were two orders placed under this contract totaling $184,000. A large quantity of M1 carabines/M4 bayonets were transferred to the South Vietnamese armed forces. The M1 carbine was well-suited for jungle warfare and it was well-received by the troops. Attached are a few contemporary photos of South Vietnamese troops armed with M1 carabines and M4 bayonets (photos are for reference only; not included with the lot).

This specimen is in rare UNUSED condition with original finish. This M4 is about 11-1/2″/ 29.3cm overall; parkerized blade is about 6-5/8″ / 17 cm long.  The edge is very sharp; the tip is intact. Ricasso is unmarked as intended; muzzle ring/guard is stamped U.S. M4 / BREN-DAN. Black plastic handle scales are tight and in perfect condition; the handle is solid; tall parts are tight with no play. Bayonet release mechanism is in perfect working order; it’s 100% functional. Original M8A1 composition scabbard was made by Pennsylvania Working Home for the Blind (stamped PWH on the throat). The scabbard is also unused; unpainted “gun-gray” steel throat is stamped USM8A1 / PWH on the front side.

This Vietnam War Bren-Dan M4 bayonet and PWH M8A1 composition scabbard are in excellent overall condition and are 100% serviceable still. Not cleaned or tampered with in any way; these are the actual photos; Garand clips are not included with the lot 😉  I have a few more Vietnam War fighting knives and bayonets, as well as several scarce WW1 and WW2 American and European fighting daggers, bayonets and trench knives available for sale – please take a look in our Militaria section.
