USN MK3 dive knife made by Ontario, original black plastic scabbard; rare UNUSED condition. US military issue – this type was used by USN SEAL teams in 1975-2000. FREE SHIPPING WITHIN THE U.S. FOR THIS ITEM.
The unused US Navy “Mark 3, Model 0” dive knife was manufactured circa 1980th in the US by Ontario Knife Company. This type was in service from 1975 till early 2000th and in use by the USN SEAL teams in the field. If I’m not mistaken, the left-over stock of MK3s are still being used during training by the USMC Reconnaissance Marines at the Combatant Divers Course near Panama City, FL. This exact type is illustrated on page 333 of THE MILITARY KNIFE & BAYONET book by Homer M. Brett – a well-established expert an author of many books on the subject of US military edged weapons (see the book’s page scan attached).
This is a well-made and practical knife; it’s the perfect size and weight for what it was designed for. The blade is 440 stainless tempered to 49-54 HRC with black iron oxide for the added rust-resistance. The handle is molded black plastic – it’s in excellent shape with no cracks or chips; heavy-duty hammer-like pommel is a chunk of solid steel; all parts are tight with no play. The knife is about 10-3/4″ / 27.3 cm overall; the blade is about 5-7/8″ / 15 cm long. The blade has not been re-sharpened; original factory edge is razor-sharp; the tip and the spine saw are intact. Ricasso is marked MK 3 / MOD 0 on one side, 2V376 on the other. Original USN MK3 MOD 0 molded black plastic scabbard with nylon webbing and brass wire belt hanger coated with black iron oxide. The scabbard is also unused; black nylon tie-down cord is included as well.
This original USN MK3 dive knife is in excellent overall condition; it has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it is in 100% original “as is” condition.
