Hard-to-find excellent quality SOG Recon Bowie fighting knife (SOG model SBR80) in as-issued unused condition. SOG manufactured the Recon Bowie model to the exact specs of the famous original Vietnam War era fighting knife issued to Study and Observation Group units but made with the best modern-day materials available. This long-discontinued model was manufactured in Seki, Japan, circa 2000-2008. The newer Recon Bowie model has achieved nearly the same legendary level as Vietnam War era originals. This type is VERY hard-to-find nowadays, especially in unused condition; Recon Bowie model is one of the most sought after SOG knives today.
Expertly crafted stacked leather washes and white spacers handle is finished with solid bronze handguard and pommel with the lanyard hole. The knife about is 12” / 30.4 cm overall; the blade is about 7″ / 17.6 cm long and 6.5 mm thick. The blade is SK-5 carbon steel hardened to 57-58 Rc and treated with titanium-oxide finish to prevent corrosion. Original factory edge is RAZOR-sharp; the tip is intact. The knife is in excellent overall shape; these early Seki-made SOGs are very hard to find in mint condition these days. The knife comes with cardboard blade protector and original-issue black leather sheath; also unused. This attractive SOG Japan Recon Bowie fighting knife could be a handy back-up for that “plan B” scenario, or just a great addition to your collection of vintage SOG fighters.
This rare Seki-made SOG Japan Recon Bowie fighting knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it is in 100% original “as purchased” condition. These are the actual photos.
