Nicholas II era 5 Roubles specimen struck at the St. Petersburg mint in 1898. The coin is about 4.3 grams, about 18.5 mm in diameter; “square rope” pattern with mint master’s initials AG on the rim. XF condition with some mint luster remaining; a few typical bag marks are noted for accuracy.
A lot Imperial gold coinage was melted down during the Russian Civil War, two World wars, and during a repressive Soviet regime.
