GB WW2 Christopher Johnson fighting knife – rare “private purchase” type fighter in excellent condition. Signed original leather scabbard is included; hard to find this nice and complete.

Original WW2 era British ”private purchase“ type fighting knife made by Christopher Johnson & Co. in Sheffield, England. Christopher Johnson was was originally established in 1865; they always made a quality product, even amidst WW2 shortages of quality materials and skilled workers. This specimen rare practically unused condition with original factory edge. This type of commercially-available fighting knives and daggers were very popular with the British and American servicemen stationed in the UK during the war. Many British and American servicemen used these fine fighters in every combat theater in Europe, North Africa and in the Middle East. Unfortunately, very few specimens survived the war in good grades; this type is VERY hard to find this nice and complete.

This fighter is in excellent overall condition; the blade is razor-sharp; the tip is intact; the etching on the blade and the company logo stamp on ricasso are crisp and clear. Stacked leather washers handle with brass and black-n-red fiber spacers at the ends. Half-guard is made of the war-expedient non-ferrous alloy as bronze was reserved for the products essential to the war effort.  Polished aluminum  the “mushroom head” pommel with a wide lug nut; the handle is tight; all parts are solid with no play. This attractive fighting knife is about 10-1/8″ / 25.8 cm overall; the blade is about 5-7/8″ / 15 cm long. Original Sheffield-made leather sheath is in very good shape overall, considering the age. Original keeper and rivets are intact; the leather is a bit dry but it’s soft and supple still. The back is signed R. Emery.
