Description
Original Cold War era short-lived version of USAF Aircrew Survival Egress Knife (ASEK) manufactured in 1989 by Ontario Cutlery Co in upstate New York; slightly used condition. A nice and practical knife with an insulated rubberized handle and heavy pommel for breaking the glass/plastic cockpit to escape. In the end though the US Air Force went with Gerber’s ASEK design; relatively small number of Ontario ASEK knives were manufactured. The knife is about 10-1/8″ / 25.8 cm overall; parkerized blade is about 4-3/4″ / 12 cm. Lightly re-sharpened; the edge is razor-sharp still; the tip is intact. The saw teeth on the blade’s spine are intact. Rubber handle and guard; heavy pointed solid steel pommel. The handle is solid; all parts are tight with no play. Original leather scabbard with a metal-reinforced tip/back and a honing stone pocket. The scabbard and the stone look unused. The leather is soft and supple still; all original stitching and rivets are intact, original keeper is tight. Overall, this Cold War 1989 Ontario ASEK Knife is in 100% serviceable condition still; you will not be disappointed.
This attractive Cold War 1989 Ontario ASEK Knife with original leather scabbard has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it’s in 100% original “as is” condition; these are the actual photos.
