Al Mar SF-SOG Special Ops 4008 A-1 fighting knife made circa 1985-1986 in Seki, Japan. Scarce short-lived model in rare UNUSED condition with original leather sheath, papers, retail box.
Vintage Al Mark Knives Special Forces / SOG Special Ops model SF-SOG 4008 A-1 large fighting knife manufactured circa 1985-1986 in Seki, Japan. Hard-to-find model in rare unused condition AND with the original sheath and correctly-labeled retail packaging/papers included. This knife was made for the European market – the upper “false” edge is factory-sharpened; reportedly Al Mar made only 250 of these “sharpened false edge” SF-SOG fighters; a rare type.
This big boy is about 11-3/4″ / 30 cm overall; the blade is about 6-1/2” / 16.5 cm. Black micarta handle with colored spacers on ends; the handguard and pommel are solid polished bronze with nickel-silver specters. The pommel is drilled for lanyard; all parts are tight with no play. Original edge is razor-sharp; needle-like tip is intact. Ricasso is stamped SEKI-JAPAN; the US Green Berets and SOG command emblems are deeply-etched on the side of the blade. Original model W4008 black leather sheath is included. The sheath is of excellent overall quality; all stitching, rivets, and keeper are intact; some typical oxidation around brass rivets is noted for accuracy. Original correctly-labeled retail box and The Warriors Edge note are in great condition as well. This superb quality 1980s vintage Al Mar SF-SOG Special Ops 4008 A-1 fighting knife is in excellent overall condition. These early-production Al Mar fighters are VERY hard to find this nice and complete; you will not be disappointed. Don’t miss your chance to add it to your collection!
