WW2 Utica UC M1 bayonet, U.C.-marked 9.75-inch blade (not a cut-down), original M7 composition scabbard; interesting serial-numbered type in rare UNUSED condition – scarce this nice.
Original WW2 era M1 bayonet for US Garand rifle manufactured circa 1944 by UTICA CUTLERY - marked U.C. on ricasso. This is an interesting specimen with matching serial numbers 4624 stamped on the bayonet’s guard/muzzle ring, as well as on the scabbard’s plastic body. Early-production serial numbering was a very short-lived feature and it was quickly discontinued. This 9.75″-blade M1 specimen is NOT a more common cut-down type of the older 16″ blade M1905. This bayonet is in scarce practically unused condition with about 80% of the “parkerized” factory blade finish intact. This specimen is very well-made with crisp lines and a well-defined edge; ricasso is sharply stamped U.C. / US “flaming bomb” on one side.
The bayonet is in great overall condition; the release mechanism is in perfect working order – it’s 100% functional; all parts are tight. The muzzle ring and pommel are excellent with no contact marks. Black plastic handle grips in excellent shape; all parts are solid with no play. This M1 is about 14-3/8″ / 36.7 cm overall; the blade is about 9-3/4″ / 25 cm. Original WW2 era M7 composition scabbard was manufactured by Victory Plastics. The throat is marked with US “flaming-bomb” ordinance mark on the throat; the throat’s underside plate is sharply stamped B2/1N. The scabbard is in excellent overall condition; it is 100% serviceable still.
Overall, thisWW2 Utica UC M1 bayonet is in excellent 100% functional and serviceable condition; this type is rare this nice as most were used as intended. This WW2 Utica UC M1 bayonet has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it is in 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos; Garand clips are not included with the bayonet 😉
