Description
This spear point/pike head was part of the US serviceman’s trove of “bring-back” souvenirs from his service in the Pacific theater during WW2. Possibly made in the Philippines during the Japanese occupation – a similar similar type was used by the local guerrillas short on firearms against the occupiers. I have a few more souvenir items from the same bring-back trunk; most seem to be primitive art and day-to-day objects made by the locals; besides an iron arrowhead this pike head was the only weapon.
Crudely made, probably at a local forge from whatever steel was available; was meant to be secured to a pole with a single nail. This interesting pike head is about 12-7/8″ / 32.7 cm overall; dual-edged blade is about 7-3/4″ / 19.7 cm; the blade is fairly sharp with a number of edge nicks here and there; the tip is a bit rounded. This interesting WW2 era theater-made pike head has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way; it is in 100% original “as is” condition; these are the actual photos. I have more WW2 fighting knives, as well as several scarce WW1 and WW2 fighting daggers, bayonets and trench knives available for sale – please take a look in our Militaria section.
