WW2 Camillus USN MK2 fighting knife, blued blade/guard-marked type, original 1943 NORD composition scabbard. Nice Mark 2 set in great overall condition, considering the age.
Original WW2 era famous US Navy Mark 2 “Ka-Bar” fighting knife (the link is a courtesy of Wikipedia) manufactured by Camillus Cutlery out of Camillus, NY. Nice USN Mark 2 specimen in better-than-average condition for the type. This is the “guard-marked” type with a plain unmarked ricasso. The guard is stamped CAMILLUS, N.Y. and U.S.N. / MARK 2 on the top side. The knife is about 12″ / 30.5 cm overall; blued blade is about 7″ / 17.8 cm. The edge has been lightly re-sharpened; it is very harp still; the tip is intact. No edge nicks or contact marks on the spine, the pommel is in excellent shape with no damage. Leather washers handle with a heavy round pommel and slightly curved guard; all parts are perfectly tight with no play. The pommel is excellent; the guard is solid with no play.
Original “navy-gray” NORD composition scabbard was made by Victory Plastics division of Beckwith Manufacturing (B.M. Co.). The numbers on the back of the throat indicate the very first delivery to the Navy (delivery date November 1943) – this specimen was part of the very first batch of new composition-materials model that had replaced the early-war all-leather scabbards. The scabbard is in great shape overall. All-original “navy gray” finish; no cracks on the plastic; original keeper is intact. The scabbard is slightly used but it is in 100% serviceable condition still.
Most of Mark 2 knives were used in the field as intended; specimens in original “as made” condition are VERY hard to find nowadays – this WW2 Ka-Bar USN MK2 fighting knife will be a great addition to any collection. This attractive WW2 Ka-Bar USN MK2 fighting knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it is in 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos; Garand clips are not included with the knife 😉
