WW2 Camillus USN MK2 fighting knife, early blade-marked type. Original 1945 NORD composition scabbard; solid fighter in great overall condition, considering the age.
Original WW2 era famous US Navy Mark 2 “Ka-Bar” fighting knife (the link is a courtesy of Wikipedia) manufactured by Camillus Cutlery out of Camillus, NY. A very attractive USN Mark 2 specimen in great overall condition. This MK2 type is rare this nice as most of these large fighters were used in the field as intended. This is an early-production blade-marked type; ricasso is stamped CAMILLUS, N.Y. on one side, U.S.N. / MARK 2 on the other. The knife is about 12″ / 30.5 cm overall; blued blade is about 7″ / 17.8 cm. The blade has been professionally sharpend and it is razor-sharp, including the “false” edge. No contact marks on the spine or the pomel, the tip is intact. Leather washers handle with a round hammer-like pommel and slightly curved guard; all parts are tight with no play. The pommel is excellent; the guard is solid with no play; leather washers are near-excellent; all are tight with no contact marks.
Original “navy-gray” NORD composition scabbard was made by Victory Plastics division of Beckwith Manufacturing (B.M. Co.). The scabbard is in slightly used condition with a few typical scratches on the plastic; nothing major. The numbers on the back of the throat indicate that it was part of the batch delivered to the Navy in March 1945. The scabbard is in great condition overall; all-original “navy gray” finish; no stains on the webbing; original keeper is intact.
Most of these mid-war Mark 2 knives were used in the field as intended; specimens in better grades are hard-to-find nowadays. This attractive WW2 Camillus USN MK2 fighting knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it is in 100% original “as is” condition. This original WW2 Camillus USN MK2 fighting knife will be a great addition to any collection. These are the actual photos; Garand clips are not included with the lot 😉
