Description
WW2 Camillus USN MK2 fighting knife blued blade/guard-marked type, original NORD composition scabbard made 03/1945. Excellent overall condition, considering the age.
Original WW2 era famous US Navy Mark 2 “Ka-Bar” fighting knife (the link is a courtesy of Wikipedia) manufactured by Camillus Cutlery out of Camillus, NY; great overall condition. This MK2 fighting knife is only slightly unused, the scabbard is excellent and looks unused – this MK2 set is in much better than average condition. This is the “guard-marked” type with a plain unmarked ricasso. The guard is stamped CAMILLUS, N.Y. on one side, U.S.N. / MARK 2 on the other. T he knife is about 12″ / 30.5 cm overall; blued blade is about 7″ / 17.8 cm. The edge (including the upper “false” edge) has been lightly re-sharpened; it is RAZOR-sharp still. No nicks on the edge or contact marks on the spine, the tip is intact; the pommel is excellent with no dings/contact marks. Leather washers handle with a heavy round pommel and T-guard; all parts are tight with no play.
Original “navy-gray” NORD composition scabbard was made by Victory Plastics division of Beckwith Manufacturing (B.M. Co.). The numbers on the back of the throat indicate delivery date to the Navy as March 1945. This specimen was part of the first batch of new composition-materials model that had replaced the early-war all-leather scabbards. The scabbard looks unused with original finish; no stains on the webbing or rust spots on the steel throat; this MK2 set is in excellent 100% serviceable condition. Most of Mark 2 knives were used in the field as intended; specimens in better grades are hard to find nowadays – this WW2 Camillus USN MK2 fighting knife will be a great addition to any collection.
I’m selling this item on a consignment; a reserve price has been set by the seller. This attractive WW2 Ka-Bar USN MK2 fighting knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it is in 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos; Garand clips are not included with the knife 😉
