WW2 British RN Siebe Gorman diving knife, original cast brass scabbard with leather belt loop included. Scarce WWII era Royal Navy issue dive knife in very good overall condition.
Original British Royal Navy issue dive knife manufactured by the famous English SIEBE GORMAN & CO. diving equipment company. The original design with handles made of wood or stacked leather washers goes back to the pre-WW1 years; the “upgraded” plastic handle version was used throughout WW2. With the exception of the special-order knives with non-magnetic blades used in demining operations most of these knives had high-carbon blades for the duration of the war. This exact type is illustrated on pages 84-85 of the excellent reference book BRITISH AND COMMONWEALTH MILITARY KNIVES by Ron Flook (see the book’s pages scans attached).
The knife is about 13-1/4″ / 33.5 cm overall; the blade is about 7-5/8″ / 19.5 cm long. Cast black plastic handle with brass guard and screw-on pommel. The handle is near-excellent – no chips, dings, or contact marks on the pommel; the handle is solid; all parts are tight. The knife is in very good condition but it looks like it wasn’t wiped dry after use so the blade has some rust spots (cleanable) and the tip is pitted. But overall this war-era diver is in great condition; all parts are tight with no play. The scabbard and original leather belt loop are in top shape as well; some oxidation near the scabbard’s tip is noted for accuracy. This WW2 British RN Siebe Gorman diving knife is in great overall condition; don’t miss your chance to add it to your collection!
This rare WW2 British RN Siebe Gorman diving knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, the set is in 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos; spent brass is not included with the knife I have a few vintage Sheffield-made knives, as well as WW2 era British combat knives and bayonets, scarce American and German WW1 and WW2 fighting daggers and trench knives available for sale – please take a look in the store’s Militaria section.
