Description
Original WW-2 era American fighting knife made by Robeson Cutlery. This is a so-called “private purchase” fighting knife that Robeson was manufacturing during the war in order to satisfy the demand for quality fighting blades. Not particularly rare WW2 fighting knife, but this type is scarce in high grades / in nice presentable condition. I have another example of the same model but in rare UNUSED condition, please take a look. This exact type is illustrated on page 214 of the KNIVES OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY WORLD WAR II book by Michael W Silvey – a well-established expert and the author of a number of books on the subject of the US military edged weapons (see book’s scans attached).
This fighting knife is about 10-3/8” / 26.3 cm overall; the blade is about 6″ / 15.2 cm. The blade has been lightly re-sharpened; it’s pretty sharp still; the tip is intact. Stacked leather washers handle with steel guard and hammer-like pommel; all parts are tight with no play. The knife comes with original-issue all-leather scabbard. The scabbard is in great shape as well; the keeper is intact , the leather is soft and supple still; all original rivets and stitching are intact. In spite of the advanced age, this scabbard is in 100% serviceable condition still.
This original WW2 American ROBESON ShurEdge fighting knife is in great overall condition; with proper care it will last another 75 years 😉 This attractive fighter knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it’s in 100% original “as is” condition.
