Original WW2 era American M3 Fighting Knife/Trench Knife manufactured by Utica or Case Cutlery in Utica, NY – maker’s logo on the guard has been ground-off. Case and Utica combined produced about 950,000 M3s of all types by the time production ended in August 1944. Attached is the photo of the US Airborne paratroopers gearing up somewhere in England the day prior to D-day jump. One paratrooper has his trench knife on the hip; two other guys are armed with M3 fighting knifes tied to their legs (original photo is the courtesy of Wikipedia and is not included with the knife). I have a few original WW2 era paratrooper-related knives available in my store; please take a look.
This fighting knife is about 11” / 28 cm overall; the blade is about 6-3/8″ / 16.2 cm. The blade has been re-sharpened; it is very sharp still; the tip is intact. Stacked leather washers handle with iron guard and hammer-like pommel; all parts are tight with no play. The guard is stamped US M3…. Original M8A1 scabbard is in great excellent condition, considering the age; no dings on the steel throat or cracks/chips on the composite plastic. The webbing is intact; all original stitching is intact; the keeper is nice and tight. Original iron belt hook attachment is intact as well. This scabbard was manufactured by Beckwith Mfg Co. (BM CO.) division of Victory Plastics.
This original WW2 American M3 fighting knife is in 100% serviceable condition still. This WW2 American M3 fighting knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it is in 100% original “as purchased” condition; these are the actual photos. Garand clips are not included with the knife 😉
