Original late WW1 era German Army fixable close combat knife(Aufpflanzbares Kampfmesser) manufactured circa 1917-1918. This is a sturdy bayonet/trench knife combination sidearm with scarce genuine stag handle scales option, original metal scabbard is included. This exact type is illustrated on pages 149-151 of the excellent French reference book by Christian Mary Knives and Daggers-Bayonets Used by the German Army During 1914-1945 (see the book’s page scan in the photos).
This fighting knife is used, but it’s in better than average condition for the type – stag handle scales are not damaged, no pitting, dings or nicks on the blade; no edge nicks or dings on the spine. The dagger is about 10-1/4” / 25.8 cm overall; the blade is about 5-3/4” / 14.6 cm; a few light surface rust spots on the blade are noted for accuracy. This Aufpflanzbares Kampfmesser specimen is unmarked. Genuine European stag handle scales on two iron pins; all parts are tight with no play; bayonet release mechanism is nice and tight; it’s in 100% working condition. Original metal scabbard is in fair shape; it holds the blade tight with no wobble. The original belt hanger is still on but the keeper has fallen apart over time, which is pretty typical for these late-war issues.
After 100 plus years this original WW1 Germany fixable fighting knife is in 100% serviceable condition still. This scarce Aufpflanzbares Kampfmesser is in great shape overall, considering the age; don’t miss your chance to add this rare fixable fighting knife type to your collection!
