Original Vietnam War era 5-inch blade pommel-marked Jet Pilot Survival Knife with original all-leather scabbard in excellent overall condition. This specimen was made by Camillus Knife Co. in Camillus, upstate New York in March 1967 – stamped CAMILLUS / N.Y. / 3-1967 on the side of the pommel. This is the 1st year the Defense Department started to pommel-date jet pilot knives; a scarce early type and the one that is hard-to-find in better grades. See a photo of the legendary triple-ace USAF Brigadier General Robin Olds (1922-2007) sporting this exact type on his pilot vest after a combat mission during the war in Vietnam. More information about the legendary American Jet Pilot Knives – aka the “aircrew survival knife” could be found on this dedicated Wikipedia page.

The knife is about 9-1/2″ / 24.2 cm overall; parkerized blade is about 5″ /12.7 cm. Original factory edge; the tip is intact; no contact marks on the pommel. The saw teeth on the blade’s spine are in excellent condition as well; some very light surface rust near the tip is noted for accuracy (cleanable). Stacked leather washers handle with iron guard and hammer-like pommel; the handle is solid; all parts are tight with no play. Original-issue early war all-leather type scabbard with a honing stone in the front pocket are in excellent condition. The scabbard and sharpening stone look unused. The leather is soft and supple still; all original stitching and rivets are intact, original keeper is intact and tight. This original Vietnam War Camillus 1967 Jet Pilot Knife set is in excellent overall condition, you will not be disappointed. This attractive Vietnam War Camillus 1967 Jet Pilot Knife will make an excellent addition to any collection.
