Description
Korean War era life raft rescue knife; scarce aluminum handle “rescue/survival” emergency knife type; original pouch/scabbard; UNUSED
Original late World War 2 or Korean War era life raft rescue knife in scarce unused condition. The knife looks unissued; it is still in its original pouch designed to be attached to a life raft or interior of a plane – this type was mounted directly over the life raft’s fabric. These rescue knives were used to cut away clothing and gear from wounded servicemen, among many other tasks it was intended for. the curved blade with a blunt tip was designed to prevent accidental injuries while cutting or damage to inflatable life rafts. The knife is about 6-3/4″ / 17.2 cm overall; the blade is about 2-1/2″ / 6.5 cm; the knife is completely unmarked. A stamped aluminum handle contains tightly packed nylon line tied to the knife. The knife is solid; all parts are tight. The “sheath” is a bit dry but it’s intact; it’s in very good overall condition; the stitching is intact. It’s taped on all four sides to a piece of cardboard; I guess for display purposes.
This Korean War era life raft rescue knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, the set is in 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos. I have a few vintage American, British, and German WW1 and WW2 fighting knives, daggers and trench knives available for sale – please take a look in the store’s Militaria section.
