Description
Japan Arisaka rifle Type 30 trainer bayonet with hooked quillion, bird beak pommel, escutcheons screws – scarce pre-WW2 quality manufacture; original metal scabbard. Great overall condition, considering the age.
Scarce pre-WW2 manufacture Japanese Type 30 bayonet for the Arisaka rifle made circa 1930th, original metal scabbard included. A well-made early-issue type with a polished fullered blade; hooked quillion, contoured grips fastened with screws set in escutcheons and a contoured birds-head pommel. The pommel and ricasso are unmarked as intended – the “trainers” were typically not serialized or arsenal-marked. Original metal scabbard is also an early WW2 pattern with ball tip and gun-blue finish. The scabbard is in great shape, considering the age; a couple of typical dents are noted for accuracy.
The bayonet is about 19-7/8” / 55.5 cm overall; the blade is about 15-3/8″ / 39 cm. The blade’s edge has not been sharpened – original factory edge; the tip is intact; some minor surface rust on the spine is noted for accuracy – see photos. The blade is still covered in a thin layer of oil; original bright finish – trainer bayonets weren’t usually blued. The bayonet release button is mechanically perfect and 100% functional; all handle parts are nice and tight; original wood grips are in very good shape overall. Almost 80 years after it was made this early WW II Japan Arisaka rifle Type 30 trainer bayonet is in 100% serviceable condition still; scarce this nice. Don’t miss your chance to add it to your collection!
