About 18.9 mm in diameter, total weigh is 3.23 grams; reeded edge. This is one of the lowest mintage years in the series with only 200,000 coins struck in 1879; these Markkaas are rare in any shape or form today. Large quantities of Russian Imperial gold were repeatedly traded-in and melted down in WW1 and during the tumulus post-war years; only a fraction of the original mintage survived to this day.
