Cold War Romania AK47 bayonet – 1960th Type 1, original matching serials wire-cutter scabbard, leather frog. Scarce UNUSED. FREE EXPEDITED SHIPPING WITHIN THE U.S. FOR THIS ITEM.
Original Cold War era communist Romania bayonet for the AK47 series with original insulated metal scabbard and leather frog. This is an early-production early 1960th Type 1 with a solid Bakelite handle. The bayonet is in scarce unused condition, the blade is still covered in rust-preventing cosmoline. The blade is excellent unused condition with original edge; some of the factory oil is still present on the blade. Plain edge and the back saw serrations are factory-original; the tip is intact. All parts are tight with no play; bayonet release is tight and 100% functional. Matching production serial numbers on the bayonet and the scabbard – see photos.
The bayonet is about 11″ / 28 cm overall; the blade is about 5-7/8″ / 15 cm long. Dark-brown Bakelite handle is intact; no chips or cracks. Original “wire cutter” type metal scabbard is excellent; the scabbard and bayonet could be used together to cut through barbed wire and live electrical lines, thanks to insulated handles (don’t try this at home). I have two (2) nearly-identical bayonets; please indicate which serial numbers you would like to purchase when ordering.
