WW2 CAMILLUS nut pommel MK2 Fighting Knife, original early WWII issue “U.S.N.” brown leather scabbard included. Excellent overall condition; VERY rare this nice.
MEGA rare original WW2 era CAMILLUS CUTLERY 1st model of the famous US Navy Mark 2 “Ka-Bar” fighting knife (the link is a courtesy of Wikipedia). This is extremely hard to find early CAMILLUS “treaded nut” pommel MK2 – these were manufactured for a VERY short time in limited quantities. This fighting knife is in rare practically unused condition; the blade still has most of its original dark-gray parkerized finish; no nicks on the edge, the tip is intact; pommel is excellent.
Ricasso is stamped CAMILLUS, N.Y. on one side, U.S.N. on the other; the guard is unmarked, as it should be for this type. Leather washers handle with heavy round pommel and slightly curved guard; all parts are tight. The knife is about 12″ / 30.5 cm overall; parkerized blade is about 6-7/8″ /17.5 cm. The edge, including the “false” upper edge, has been gently re-sharpened, it is RAZOR-sharp still; the tip is intact. The blade has not been cleaned and sows some original patina and what looks like field dirt around ricasso, all of which adds some nice character to the knife. Rare early WW2 issue all-leather scabbard is stamped U.S.N. at the steel throat. All original rivets and stitching are intact; the leather is soft and supple still – VERY rare this nice.
This rare first model “nut pommel” MK2 fighting knife and original leather scabbard are in 100% serviceable condition, even after 75 plus years. Excellent overall condition and SUPER rare as such these days – today most of the surviving 1st model “nut pommel” MK2 fighting knives are in private collections & rarely come up for sale.
