Boker Rex Applegate OSS combat dagger made in Japan in 2002; original leather sheath, retail box included. Hard-to-find type: only 600 were made, just 300 were sold in the US.
Rare modern-day version of the famous Office of Strategic Services (OSS) 1st model Combat Dagger designed circa 1942 by Colonel Rex Applegate for the OSS. Made circa 2002 by Boker in Japan. Boker went to the 1st-class knifemaker Hiro in Seki, Japan to have 600 of these daggers made; all were serial-numbered. Only 300 of these OSS sets were sold in the States; this type is exceedingly hard-to-find nowadays, especially with the original sheath and correctly-labeled retail box included.
This dagger’s serial number 332 is engraved on ricasso; JAPAN on the other side. The dagger is about 12” / 30.5 cm overall; AUS8 stainless alloy blade is about 7″/ 17.8 cm. Original factory edge is razor-sharp; needle-like tip is intact; the etching on the blade is sharp and clear. Stacked leather washes with solid bronze double-guard and pommel; this dagger has a VERY comfortable grip. Original leather sheath, cardboard blade protector, and correctly-labeled retail box are included. Box’s lower half paper is peeling in places; the top part is intact.
