Vintage AL MAR KNIVES Grunt I 4020 model fighting knife in mint condition; manufactured in Seki, Japan. The knife is still in the original retail box. Scarce 1980th pre-production run tat was limited to the first 200 serial-numbered knives (serial 176/200 etched on the blade with lightly printed JAPAN just below the serial). The sheath is simply marked with Al Mar logo and model # W4020 on the back; original leather tie-down cord is included.
The knife and sheath are in absolute mint condition. The knife is about 9-3/4″ / 24.7 cm overall; the blade is about 5-1/16″ / 12.9 cm. Stacked leather washers handle with steel round pommel; the handguard is polished bronze; all parts are tight with no play. Original Al Mar marked brown leather sheath; a couple of dark spots on the leather at the tip are noted for accuracy.
