Classic early WW2 era British FS “Fairbairn Sykes” 2nd pattern fighting dagger made by the famous Wilkinson Sword Co. with rare “initials-etched” blade and original metal-tipped leather scabbard. This exact  FS dagger type is illustrated on page 128 of the KNIVES OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY WORLD WAR II book by Michael W Silvey – a well-established expert an author of many books on the subject of US military edged weapons (see the book’s page scans attached). Originally designed as the “commando dagger” for the elite British special-ops forces, these “FS” fighting knives became super-popular with the British and American servicemen stationed in the UK during the war. Allied servicemen carried FS daggers in practically every combat theater in Europe, North Africa and in the Middle East. Looks like one of the US Army Rangers overlooking a beachhead landing in Algeria is sporting one such British-made FS dagger  – see the photo scan attached (photo is for reference only).

This WW2 Fairbairn-Sykes dagger in in excellent unused condition – this type is VERY hard to find this nice and complete as most were used in the field as intended. Original factory edge on the blade; the tip is intact. The blade is etched on ricasso with Wilkinson Sword logos; the blade is etched with  initials H.W.K. inside the “banner” on one side. Knurled cast bronze handle is unmarked as intended. Iron cross guard is unmarked; no dings or contact marks on the pommel, guard, or the blade’s edges – this type is rare this nice. Typical Wilkinson Sword vise-marked narrow-nob bronze pommel and thick iron handguard; all parts are solid with no play. Original patina on the cast bronze handle; a couple of tiny cast imperfections on the surface are noted for accuracy. This dagger is about 11-1/4″ / 28.5 cm overall; the blade is about 6-3/8″ / 16.2 cm; the tip is intact; the are a few small surface rust spots on the blade from improper storage (cleanable). Original 2nd Pattern “blunt tip” type leather scabbard is in great shape overall, considering the age. Leather “wings” are a bit dry but intact; the belt hanger part is MIA as it looks like this scabbard was converted to “boot carry” style. Original metal tip is in great shape with no play. Don’t miss your chance to add this original WW2 Fairbairn-Sykes 2nd pattern dagger to your collection!

This rare original WW-II era 2nd pattern WW2 Wilkinson Sword Fairbairn-Sykes dagger has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it is in 100% original “as is” condition.
