Description
A scarce WW2 era “private purchase” fighting knife manufactured during the war by Western Cutlery in Boulder, Colorado. This is a much more scarce fighter with a narrow 5.25″ blade – the knife is similar in size to another Western model G46-6 “Shark” utility-fighting knife, but it just wasn’t a good seller and was quickly discontinued in favor of the more popular “Shark” fighter.
Typical war-time production with the iron double-guard and aluminum pommel. Stacked leather washers handle with colored fiber spacers on the ends; the handle is solid; all washers are tight with no play; the guard has a tiny bit of a play. The pommel has a few typical contact marks; the guard is intact. The knife is about 9-3/8″ / 24 cm overall; the blade is about 5-1/4″ / 13.3 cm long; it is super-sharp still; the tip is intact; no dings on the spine. Hard to find original leather scabbard is in very good shape overall, considering the age. Original Western-made scabbard is included; these early WW2 scabbards are actually more scarce than the knives themselves. The leather is in good shape; the keeper and all original stitching/rivets are intact. With proper care this knife will last you another 75 years 😉
This rare WW2 Western private purchase fighting knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos. I have a few more vintage European knives, as well as WW2 era combat knives and bayonets, scarce WW1 and WW2 fighting daggers and trench knives from other countries available for sale – please take a look in our Militaria section.
