Description
An interesting and certainly one of a kind WW2 era fighting dagger/trench knife. This is a so-called “theater knife” – made by some unknown GI from whatever materials were available at hand. Similar types are illustrated in THEATER MADE MILITARY KNIVES OF WORLD WAR II book by Bill and Debbie Wright. The knife comes with original hand-made leather scabbard in decent condition; both are completely unmarked.
This is a well-made and practical fighter with a great balance and a perfect fit. The handle is made of stacked leather and Bakelite washers and aluminum spacers with a solid aluminum pommel and double-guard. The handle is tight; all parts are solid with no play. This interesting fighter is about 10-5/8″ / 27 cm overall; polished dual-edge blade is about 6-1/4″ / 15.8 cm. The edge is very sharp still; the tip is intact. The scabbard is in great condition; the leather is soft and supple still; the keeper is MIA; all original stitching is intact. This scabbard is in excellent shape overall, considering the age; it’s 100% serviceable still.
This interesting and certainly one-of-a kind WW2 American theater-made fighting knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way; it is in 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos; spent brass is not included with the knife 😉 I have more WW2 era American, British, Australian, New Zealand, and German fighting knives, as well as several scarce WW1 and WW2 fighting daggers, bayonets and trench knives available for sale – please take a look in the Militaria section.
