Description
These helmet nets were first issued to the troops in September 1944. The net was manufactured from cotton thread OD-dyed and woven into a tight ¼ inch square pattern. As manufactured, the net came with a “Neoprene” rubber band attached to it by means of three small green fabric strips of cloth. Also, the net was issued with a tag card printed on both sides; the card has illustrations and explanations for installation and potential use by the wearer. These nets were issued to GIs in great numbers and they were used as intended – see photos (original photos will not be included with the lot). Not many survived the war in decent condition, however; these original helmet covers are hard to find in better grades nowadays.
This is a complete set with all of these original parts included; looks like the net has never been used. This WW2 US M44 helmet net was part of the diverse collection of militaria items that I’ve recently purchased spanning from WW1 to the War in Vietnam. This original WW2 US M44 helmet net has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it is in 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos.
