WW2 Imperial M3 fighting knife, blade-marked type; original BM Co. M8 composition scabbard included. Scarce early-issue American trench knife in great condition, considering the age.
Original WW-II era blade-marked M3 Trench Knife manufactured by Imperial Knife Co. in Providence, RI – one of the larger war-time makers of edged weapons for the US government. The M3 production had ended in August 1944, but only the early M3 specimens were blade-marked. Out of the total of 2.5 million M3s made, Imperial produced about 850,000 M3s of all types. See the WW2 era M3 Trench Knife in the European theater photo (for reference only; not included with the lot). This fighting knife is used, but it’s in better-than-average condition for the type.
This fighter is in very good overall condition, considering the age – leather washers with 7 grooves handle is nice and tight; the iron cross guard and hammer-like pommel are intact. The pommel is solid; the guard has a teeny-tiny bit of a play. The blade is marked US M3 IMPERIAL on one side. The heavy-duty steel pommel is stamped with the “flaming bomb” US ordinance mark. This M3 fighter is about 11-1/2″ / 29.3 cm overall; blued blade is 6-5/84″ / 17 cm long. The blade has been expertly sharpened, it is razor-sharp still, including the upper edge; the tip is intact.
This rare M3 comes with original M8 composition scabbard manufactured by Beckwith Manufacturing Company – it’s marked US M8 / B.M. CO. on the throat. The scabbard is in excellent overall condition, considering the age. The keeper is nice and tight; no rust on the webbing; a few minor scratches on the plastic are noted for accuracy. This very desirable original early blade-marked issue WW2 Imperial M3 fighting knife is guaranteed original or your money back. This attractive WW2 Imperial M3 fighting knife / BM Co. M8 scabbard set has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it is in 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos; spent brass is not included with the lot 😉
