Rare WW2 era Case’s Tested XX “private purchase” fighting knife with a stacked leather/Bakelite pommel handle and original leather scabbard. Case manufactured these handy fighters during the war to fill the ever-growing need for fighting blades. Bakelite was used extensively to conserve the much-needed aluminum and expedite the wartime production. This exact type is illustrated on page 91 of the KNIVES OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY WORLD WAR II book by Michael W. Silvey – a well-established expert an author of many books on the subject of US military edged weapons (see the page’s photo attached).

This fighting knife is about 9-3/8” / 23.8 cm overall; flat-ground blade is about 5″ / 12.7 cm. The blade has been very lightly re-sharpened; it is razor-sharp still; the tip is intact. Curved double-guard is made of nickel-silver; the pommel’s lugnut is sealed with lead with has initials BK scratched onto it. The handle is solid; all part are tight with no play; ricasso is stamped with the war-era “square” CASE logo on one side. Original leather scabbard is in great overall condition, considering the age. All rivets and stitching, and original keeper are intact, the leather is soft and supple. This WW2 CASE fighting knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it is in 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos; spent brass is not included with the lot 😉
