WW2 Camillus USN MK2 fighting knife, early blued blade-marked type, original 1943 NORD composition scabbard. Great overall condition, considering the age.
Original WW2 era famous US Navy Mark 2 “Ka-Bar” fighting knife (the link is a courtesy of Wikipedia) manufactured by Camillus Cutlery located in Camillus, NY. This MK2 fighter and original NORD scabbard is in great overall shape; this MK2 set is in much better than average condition. This is the earlier version “blade-marked” type with a unmarked guard. Ricasso is stamped CAMILLUS, N.Y. on one side, U.S.N. / MARK 2 on the other. The knife is about 12″ / 30.5 cm overall; blued blade is about 7″ / 17.8 cm. The edge has been re-sharpened; it is razor-sharp still; no edge nicks, digs, or contact marks on the spine or the false edge, the tip is intact. The pommel is excellent with no dings/contact marks; some light rust on the guard and pommel is noted for accuracy. Leather washers handle with a heavy round pommel and T-guard; all parts are tight with no play.
Original “navy-gray” NORD U.S.N. MK 2 composition scabbard was made by Victory Plastics division of Beckwith Manufacturing (B.M. Co.). The numbers on the back of the throat indicate that this scabbard was part of the the first delivery to the Navy which started in November 1943. This specimen was part of the very first batch of new composition-materials model that had replaced the early-war all-leather scabbards. The scabbard looks unused with original finish; no stains on the webbing, the keeper is intact. This MK2 set is in excellent 100% serviceable condition.
Most of Mark 2 knives were used in the field as intended; specimens in better grades are hard to find nowadays – this WW2 Camillus USN MK2 fighting knife will be a great addition to any collection. This attractive WW2 Ka-Bar USN MK2 fighting knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it is in 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos; Garand clips are not included with the knife 😉
