Description
WW2 British military clasp knife dated 1945; made by Joseph Rodgers & Sons in Sheffield, England. Scarce type in excellent condition, considering the age.
Original British military issue jack/clasp knife manufactured in 1945 by the famous Joseph Rodgers & Sons in Sheffield, England; slightly used – this type is rare this nice as most were heavily used in the field. This all-metal pattern made entirely of stainless steel was know as the “Burma Knife” as it was designed to replace older military jack knives which proved to be corrosion-prone in jungle conditions. This “upgraded” clasp knife version has proven to be very successful and was used by the British military bell beyond WW2 era. This exact type is illustrated on pages 145-146 of the excellent reference book BRITISH AND COMMONWEALTH MILITARY KNIVES by Ron Flook (see the book’s pages scans attached).
The knife is about 4″ / 10.2 cm overall closed; the main blade is about 2-1/2″ / 6.5 cm long; it is very sharp still; the tip is intact. The built-in integral flat-head screwdriver is in great shape with no damage. The knife is solid; all parts are tight with no play. A few cosmetic scratched from light use are noted for accuracy. This original WW2 British military clasp knife is in excellent overall condition; don’t miss your chance to add it to your collection!
This scarce WW2 British military clasp knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, the set is in 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos. I have a few vintage Sheffield-made knives, as well as WW2 era British combat knives and bayonets, scarce American and German WW1 and WW2 fighting daggers and trench knives available for sale – please take a look in the store’s Militaria section.
