Description
Original WW2 era American “theater-made” fighting dagger made from whatever materials were available on hand. Probably ship-made by some talented sailor or a marine. Dual-edge blade with deep hollow-ground edges seems to be custom-finished from a chunk of spring steel or another blade. The overall quality of this unique but practical large fighter is actually pretty high. The fit and balance are excellent for such a large knife.
Stacked red Bakelite with aluminum spacers and copper fittings handle. Copper guard was expertly fitted to the blade – no small feat in the rudimentary field conditions. This interesting fighting knife is about 11-3/8″ / 29 cm overall; the blade is about 7″ / 17.5 cm, it is very sharp still; the tip is intact. Original custom-made leather scabbard is in great overall condition – the leather is soft and supple; all original stitching is intact. This interesting and certainly one-of-a kind WW2 American fighting dagger has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way; it is in 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos; Garand clips are not included with the knife 😉
I have a few more American bayonets and fighting knives, as well as some scarce European WW2 and WW1 fighting knives, daggers, trench knives and bayonets available for sale – please take a look in the store’s Militaria section.
