Description
Original pre-WWI “tube type” cleaning kit for M1903 Springfield rifle – these were carried in the butt trap of M1903 and M1917 rifles, thus the slim tubular shape. I have thee (3) such cleaning kits; all are nearly identical with similar amount of wear. The kit’s tube is nickel-plated brass, included within are the wire bore brush and a brass pull that is slotted for a patch and threaded for a cleaning brush. The other end has an oil reservoir with an oil-drop pin. One of the caps has a leather pad on one end to prevent the kit from rattling in the butt trap. The tube is about 6″ / 15.2 cm overall; all parts are tight.
